20-August-2015 (HCS) - Mrs. Jamie Smith joins the Hoover City Schools family this school year in a unique role: assistant principal at two Hoover schools. Smith will spend part of her day at Brock's Gap Intermediate School and part of her day at Deer Valley Elementary School. Her roles will vary at each school and will range from Extended Day Programs and teacher evaluations to professional development, discipline and supervision.

"I am so excited to start this new year!" Smith said. "I've been in education 19 years, with seven of those as an assistant principal."

Smith comes to Hoover City Schools directly from Pelham City Schools, where she served as an assistant principal at Pelham High School. She has also worked in school systems in Georgia and north Alabama, teaching 6-12 English, Journalism, SAT Prep, Computer Applications, Keyboarding and Technology.

"My administration experience has taken me from high school to elementary back to high school, and now back to elementary. It's an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Hoover community."

Smith holds degrees from Jacksonville State University, Columbus State University, Troy University and Samford University. She, along with her husband Greg and their son Jonah, enjoys family time, movies and the beach.
